Barley Collection: Barley explores the intersection of raw materiality and traditional craftsmanship. Jute is often associated with a coarse, rustic character – with Barley, that image shifts towards something softer and more refined, made for the contemporary home. The name refers to the grain, a nod to the natural, golden tone of the jute threads that run through the rug.
Each piece is woven by hand using the time-honoured Punja technique, where artisans use a heavy, comb-like tool to tightly pack the yarn. This rigorous method, combined with a resilient 100% cotton warp, gives the rug its strict architectural form and lasting structural integrity. By blending the earthy, tactile strength of jute (70%) with the grounding warmth of wool (30%), Barley achieves a striking contrast in texture. Jute brings weight and a robust surface, while wool adds softness and warmth. The result is a substantial, multi-dimensional surface that feels honest and inviting underfoot.
With a generous 14mm profile, Barley challenges the traditional flatweave, anchoring the room with a quiet, confident, and highly textured presence.
Please note: Colors may appear differently depending on lighting and surrounding environment. We recommend ordering a sample from this page to ensure the color and texture meet your expectations.
